Robbie Belchamber Wow what an amazing debut track!!! I've been following this band since they first started playing good around Melbourne and they are a force to be reckoned with. This track definitely lives up to the hype - so nuanced and detailed in the melodies and arrangements but still hard hitting. One for the ages. Favorite track: Baby.

Influenced by the likes of Tune Yards, Sylvan Esso, Becca Stevens, Hiatus Kaiyote, James Blake and Ngaiire when writing Baby gave the band a chance to explore their sound. Matilda, Grace and Stella’s layered harmonies are instantly captivating, while the funky and raucous instrumentation that Noah, Matt and Christy have created will inspire your most uninhibited dance moves to come to the fore. The song is an anthem for desire that’s exempt from the male gaze, as too often the patriarchal lens results in women who exude desire being scrutinised and labelled promiscuous. Instead, the band wants you to celebrate feelings and expression of desire. Tension builds across the track, and Baby’s cathartic conclusion is a euphoric release for both band and listener.

To bring Baby to life, band members Matilda Pungitore (Singer), Grace Robinson (Singer), Stella Dunai (Singer), Noah Hutchinson (Bass), Matt Dooley (Drums) and Christy Wozitsky-Jones (Keyboards) have been on a journey. Recording at Brian Brown Studio in Melbourne, the band worked on the track for months alongside Moses Carr and engineer Pat Telfer, navigating through lockdowns to fine-tune the track. A triumphant return to Brian Brown Studio at the end of 2021 allowed the band to put the finishing touches on Baby. The song was then mixed by Nick Herrera (Hiatus Kaiyote, 30/70) and mastered by Guy Davie Electric Mastering.
